Constitution and Citizenship Day – Special Ceremonies

US Citizenship and Constitution DayCitizens of the United States observe the US Constitution and Citizenship Day, every year on September 17. USCIS will welcome new citizens today by organizing special naturalization ceremonies. Around 8000 people will take the oath of Allegiance and get their naturalization certificates on this special day.

Constitution and Citizenship day is being celebrated to think about and reflect on the rights that the United States grants to its citizens. Moreover, new citizens are recognized today to remind us that the country provides equal opportunities for people from across the globe.

Today being the birthday of the government of the country, it is the duty of the citizens to take part in the ceremonies and programs hosted by the federal, local, and state officials. Similarly, educational and social organizations also conduct programs to bring together the members of the community. Hence, it is our duty to recognize the strength of our Constitution and the rights it grants to the citizens. This day also recognizes people who had become US citizens through naturalization.

The anniversary of America’s constitution will be celebrated throughout the week starting from 17th September to 23rd September. Images of the US citizens and the US flag are used as promotional materials for the Constitution and Citizenship Day.

On the 225th anniversary of the signing of our constitution, USCIS is conducting naturalization ceremonies, throughout America. Special ceremonies for servicemen are also conducted in three different locations. Reflect on the US Constitution and honor the Constitution and Citizenship Day today.
