Countries With the Largest Population of Immigrants

Countries With the Largest Population of Immigrants America is well known for its immigrant population. According to the United Nations, there are more than 44 million immigrants living in the United States. America is also regarded as the most immigrant friendly country. The top three nations with the highest population of immigrants are the United States of America, Russian Federation and Germany.

Countries that are on the list of nations with highest population of immigrants are also on the list of most populous countries. America and Russia are both among the top ten most populous countries.

Some countries have higher numbers of immigrants but the governments of those countries have not implemented special policies that support immigration. Reports from the United Nations show that countries like Saudi Arabia, France, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates have promoted policies that aim at lowering the level of immigration in their countries.

At the same time, some countries have implemented policies to promote immigration. Russia is a country that has actively promoted immigration. Some countries with large immigrant population maintain policies for high-skilled foreign workers and for the other migrants.

But some policies these countries adopted have failed  to attract immigrants. Russia wanted to increase the amount of immigration but the nation’s immigration population dropped by 10 percent over the past three years. Similarly, Germany lost in its attempt to hire high-skilled immigrants from the Euro-zones. That is because the country was unable to retain the workers who were hired from those regions.

According to the reports, the immigrant population of Russia is 11 million and Germany is 9.8 million. The country with the highest population of immigrants is the United States and there are more than 45.8 million migrants living in the country. More than 74% of international immigrants are of working age.

This report shows that the United States and Germany are the most popular destinations for the immigrants. These nations offer well-developed infrastructure. The financial markets and the education system of these countries are few things that are attracting foreigners.
